Effectiveness of Bilateral Greater and Lesser Occipital Nerve Blocks in the Prophylaxis of Episodic Migraine

Aim: In recent years, many studies have been conducted on the effectiveness of occipital nerve block (ONB) especially in prophylaxis chronic migraine. this study, it was aimed to investigate bilateral greater and lesser ONBs episodic migraine without aura. Material Methods: This retrospective study included patients with aura who underwent between January 2018 December 2019. Information about headache frequency, attack duration, pain severity (VAS score) last month before 1 after retrieved from database recorded for statistical analysis. Results: A total 17 aged 26-57 years were study. None developed any drug side effects or complications associated ONB. With ONB, median value frequency dropped 5 (range, 4-14) 2 0-6) per (p=0.001), duration 12 6-14) 4 0-9) days (p<0.001), VAS score 9 7-10) 0-10) compared pretreatment values. Conclusion: Bilateral are effective ONB can be considered as a treatment option do not respond conventional treatments (oral drugs) accept therapy.
